Season of Green Leaves had already hit the rest of Tapera but it was still icy here in the mountains. Shekri could feel the biting chill of the frosty air through his black striped belt as he walked a narrow trail, the ice and snow around him held an icy blue glow that was uncomfortable to his eyes. The river that roared through the narrow gorge below and before him glaringly struck him as the sun's light reflected off its surface. Ice, though beginning to melt, chilled his feet as he crept down the stone trail.
The rogue was uncomfortably aware of how conspicuous his pelt was against all this white. A creature with a yellowed pelt, golden feathers and ashy stripes had no reason to be here. Yet he did, where else was he supposed to go? No one wanted him, a killer and a lunatic. They chased him out like he was a dog that had stolen their antelope.
He launched himself into the air and soared further down the gorge as the trail fell away. Shekri alighted on a dead pine, the trees branches groaning under his weight. Startled birds took flight and he lazily snapped at them, his beak closing inches from the wing of the slowest. The rogue laughed, his voice coming out grating and cold. Stupid beasts, they couldn't tell an enemy from an acorn if they tried.
Bored, he began to groom himself for once. He paused over the myriad of scars that laced his pelt as he came to them, but otherwise he took little time. Shekri didn't really care to much for his appearance. Something moved out of the corner of his eye as he came to his feathers. The rogue froze, the movement had been out of his left eye so whatever it was had been to blurry to make out. Shifting his position, he glared at the place where the figure had last been. Beast or gryphon?
"Whether your prey or gryphon I suggest you show face before I make you! I don't appreciate sneaks." Shekri called out, his voice hoarse from little use.

The black figure ran through the forest. Her black wings folded neatly behind her to give her more speed. She was running directly at the large ravine. She was a daring one, and she always liked to take risks. She had smelt a male that had passed through not too long ago. She had killed her old mate in a horrible 'accident'. That's what they had called it, though it had been no accident. He had been no use to her anymore, so she just killed him. She rolled her eyes at the way he had looked at her that last time before she killed him. His eyes begging her to not do it. Those big eyes asking,"Why?" And his last words,"I'm sorry. I still love you." She shoke her head, threw it back and laughed. Such fools the males are She thought and ran on.
She hadn't relized how close she was to the ravine, until she fell off the edge. She shrugged and then postioned herself so that she was diving down into the valley. She waited until she was close to the ground, before spreading her wings and drifting down to land on the soft grass. She looked around and saw that the male was not far away. She smiled and crept into the bushes. She walked until she was on the side that he was not facing and then came out of the bushes.
She smiled when he spoke to her and said,"Personally I don't appreciate sneaks either. One reason I'm not one." She trotted around to the other side of the tree and looked up at him. "So handsome, may I know your name? I'm Phoenix just in case you wanted to know." Her dark brown eyes, hinting with violet looked dreamingly at him. She thought he was handsome, but she didn't think she would stay with him forever if they even got together. He would probably just be another of her little experiments.
She walked around the tree, brushing up against it. She stopped again and looked up at him,"Why don't you come down here, handsome? It's hurting my neck to look up at you." She was polite with him. She always was. She smiled again and then took a few steps away from the tree, hoping that he would come down.

Handsome, did that little female just call him handsome? That was a first, only his former mate had called him that and that was before his various fights scarred him. Maybe this female didn't care or she liked scars. Eh, either way he didn't care. The only thing that mattered was that at least he had someone to talk to.
"My name's Shekri and I'm glad your not a sneak. I'd have to hurt you then and your too pretty to hurt." He replied, his polite as was hers
He dropped from the tree and landed with a muffled thud on the scattered grass below. Shekri stretched, his ocher striped pelt tightening over his muscles, before turning to this Phoenix. She was a pretty thing, Shekri hadn't lied when he said so, and he circled her to examine every inch of her. It had been a while since he'd encountered a female that wasn't put off by his appearance, or attitude, so he was understandably wary and curious.
She was smaller than him, at least in weight, and had a shiny black coat that blended into blacker feathers. Her wings were different, though, they were a dark brown hinted with violet. Shekri had never seen anything like it but he found it pleasing none the less. After his second circle he stopped in front of her and just watched her for a minute. The rogue was trying to figure out what she might want with him, or from him for that matter. Few, after all, willingly approached him unless they wanted something.
"Are you sightseeing or looking for something specific? Perhaps I could help." Shekri said it in a sly manner, both asking her why and what she was doing here but also stating that he was interested.

She smiled at him. Her smile was flirty, but not too much that it was obvious. She pulled a wing out in front of her and bowed, saying,"Thank you, Shekri. It is a pleasure to meet you." Her voice was flirty, like her smile. She stood up straight and watched him circle her with brown eyes. She smiled and circled him in the same manner, taking in every inch of him. She brushed up against him every once in a while, knowing that she shouldn't because it might make him feel uncomfortable, but she did any way.
He was a light yellow color with black stripes crossing his back. His feathers were golden. He was much larger than she was. He had the body of a larger animal, though. She smiled at his scars. He would be a challenge, but she would accept him. She brushed up against him as she walked around him a few more times. Her last time walking around him, she rubbed her head against his chin, and rubbed against his chest. She smiled as she started circling to finish off and said,"Actually I was just getting out for the evening. Trying to get away from my sister. She's a pain." Her voice was still flirty as she finished the circle around him and went to sit in front of him again.
She shook her pelt out. A large black feather flew off her wing and started floating to the ground above Shekri's head. She watched it float down to just above his head before lookig into his eyes, meeting his gaze with her own flirty one.

Phoenix smiled at him, in that smile Shekri detected a slight flirtatious air. He returned the gesture, and her bow, with his own cocky grin and flicked her ears lightly with his tail as she circled him. A shiver raced up his spine as she brushed up against him, the feathers along his back rising to stand tall like flags on a battlefield. The rogue couldn't remember the last time a female had shown interest in him or even got this close. Come to think of it, his mate was probably the last.
Her head pressed against his chin and chest and he couldn't help but growl, whether it was because he was pleased or testy he didn't even know. The curious sutla spoke of a sister who was a pain and that she had gone out for the evening to get away from her sister. Shekri wondered just what this female had gone out looking for, from the way she was acting she couldn't have just left the nest to walk the twilight. The way she was acting also made the rogue think that she wanted something from him.
"Are you sure you were only looking to just get out? From the way you act I think you're looking for someone or something. Or perhaps both?" He said rather bluntly, politeness hadn't been a big thing for him and still wasn't.
His dark eyes gazed into hers and realized she was watching something. Shekri looked up in time to have a feather, shaken loose from Phoenix, to land on his face. He shook his head, a small hiss escaping his maw. The rogue hated it when things landed on his head. Even if it was a feather from a pretty little sutla.

Phoenix smiled at him and said,"No, no, dear. I haven't come out for anything, but to escape my sister. Although... then I saw you..." A little flirty edge was put to her voice. She was interested in this male, though she might kill him in the end. She always did. That was just the way she was. She won their hearts, and then killed them off, always saying that it was an accident.
She smiled and walked around him once more, her tail curling under his chin, and across his back. She cut close to him, brushing up against every side of him. Her black pelt shone in the sunlight. The hint of violet in her wings and eyes was brought out when the sun shone on them. She walked around to the front of him, again, and sat down.
She looked into his eyes, looking deep. And there she saw it. She saw that she really did love him, and that she could never kill him if she tried. She looked at him for a moment, and then shook her head. You're starting to sound like your pathetic excuse of a sister. You like him, but you don't love him. Put him to good use. The evil voice inside her hissed.
