The sun was high in the sky and everything was quiet for the time being. It was the the sound of small paws on the hard dirt that had disturbed this silence. The small creature walked in a nice steady pace to wards what seemed to be the edge of the Fire Flower Gorge. It was none other than Nalini, a very small gryphon and also a healer.
She looked out over to the other side of the steep Gorge and saw the same things that were over on her side, nothing much was different. She hoped as she looked down in the gorge that she would see something different and alas she did. At the bottom of the gorge was a river, the Teradic river to be precise. It carved this place and the way it flowed you could tell at the bottom of the gorge the dirt around the river would be most and mineral rich.
Nalini had never been to this place before even though she has heard about. The whole reason she had come to this place was to find the great fire flower, a herb that she had heard about that could heal many wounds and cure many illnesses. Hearing things like that made her wanna come to this place more and more every time she heard it. She heard it so much until one day she just had to come. Nalini set out earlier that morning and she was finally there standing looking down in the gorge.
She was a little reluctant to go down, not knowing what was down there. Her small size was great for healing the sick and wounded because her little paws could get in small places. But her small size was also a disadvantage in a lot of things and this was one of them. She just stood there for a few minutes still contemplating if she should go down or not, even if she really wanted to.

Deep in a dream, Valkin swiped at a falling leaf, knocking it from its former, spiraling path. As he pinned the brilliantly gold object to the ground, another landed on his back. Releasing the first, he snatched the second off of his back only to have a pile come crashing down. The leaves tickled, his nose was especially irritated and he let out a ferocious sneeze. Leaves scattered, morphing into cawing crows that alighted on the now bare and very much dead branches. A cold wind ruffled his fur and feathers and a low, deathly moan reached his ears. Slowly he turned to find himself face to face with a wall of black that steadily devoured everything before it. With a terrified shriek he dived down into the valley only to discover he couldn't flap his wings.
Valkin snapped awake with a gasp. He lay there panting, slowly realizing he was now several feet from where he had fallen asleep. The druid gazed up the small hill to the large boulder he had rested upon and came to the conclusion that he should now add sleep walking to his list of can-do's. His heart having finally slowed down after his nightmare, he got to his feet and examined the surrounding land. It had been nightfall when he had arrived after a two day flight from his nesting tree and he was too tired at the time to sightsee.
Now he realized that he had indeed flown far. Hadro stood on the edge of the Fire Flower Gorge. Stones broke loose from the sediment as he grasped the edge with his talons and peered down. Far below, like a great thick snake, the Teradic River roared its way down the stone walls of the gorge. He shuddered and backed away, fearing the deep, churning water. As a kibu, he had been dragged beneath the river by a monster that had risen out off its depths. His father, Yuagra, had saved him but he had been left with a fear of water and a scar. :That makes me a sathzo.: The druid thought with a small chuckle.
He padded back to his boulder, deciding that he should take advantage of the sunshine and bask. The dark grey rosettes on his fur gleamed like tarnished silver against his black coat as he settled down. Tail twitching, he closed his eyes and hummed a low tune to himself. Today would be a good day, perhaps he would hunt. Something small, for his order called for the protection of all life, but also filling. A bird called overhead and he opened a single eye to investigate it.
The druid quickly sat up as he spied a very small gryphon at the edge of the gorge. It was peering downward, as if contemplating something. Perhaps to climb down the gorge? Valkin didn't think that the greatest of ideas, especially for one so small. But its size here might be an asset, it would be able to grab the smallest hand holds. Flying didn't seem smart today for the little ones, there was a breeze here which meant a harsh wind in the gorge. :I may as well offer assistance.:
"Excuse me little one," He said as he approached the smaller gryphon, "But your not thinking of going down there are you?"
Number of Words: 570 words Things To Know: Valkin is a bit of a loner so he might act a little bit grouchy or just...odd. Nalini was still contemplating if she would go down into when she heard someone from behind her. The young gryphon jumped a little when she heard the voice of another. She usually didn't scare easily, so that was kind of weird for her.
"Excuse me little one," He said as he approached the smaller gryphon, "But your not thinking of going down there are you?"
Nalini looked up at the larger gryphon, Well.... Nalini started out. She froze for a few seconds still thinking about her decision, Yes, I was giving it some serious thought and I think I have to. Her voice was small and and a little raspy. She said as she turned to look down the gorge once again. Nalini was nervous and it showed.
It was nice to see another gryphon who would talk to her and look like he wasn't worried about her size. Some others were mean and treated her like prey. While others treated her like she was a baby and need protection. Both kind of got on her nerves a little. She was very capable of taking care of herself, most of the time.
My name is Nalini by the way, a sincere smile came across her face. If you don't mind me asking, what's yours? She said as she ruffled her wings.
Number of Words: 217 Things To Know: Nalini is proud of her small size and hates when others treat her differently. Character: Nalini Anything Else? Crap post, sorry for super shortness. >.<

He backed up a little as the smaller gryphon jumped, Valkin hadn't meant to scare her and saw no reason to continue to. The coal colored gryphon sat down, his twitching tail rustling the dry grasses around them. She looked up at him, and he looked down at her, as she started to speak. Only a single word came out before she stopped, either in contemplation or fear he couldn't tell. I don't frighten her, do I? Perhaps my size is too imposing but I can't do much about that.
But then she spoke and he cocked his head in curiosity. "Why do you have to go down there? It isn't a safe descent for any gryphon. The winds are far gustier within the stone walls of the gorge than they are above."
The druid had only tried the descent once before and it hadn't ended well. He'd nearly broken his wings. His mentor had given him quite the berating for it. Her small, angry visage still brought a smile to his face. She just looked funny when she was angry, she didn't even look angry.
Little Gryphon gave her name as Nalini, along with a smile. It eased some of his tension seeing her relax a little and not seem so nervous. Nervous gryphons presented an unpredictable creature in Valkin's eye. Didn't matter who they were, that's just how he saw it. Valkin stretched out his wings and dipped his head to Nalini as he greeted her.
"I was born Valkin Hadro, call me Valkin." The druid replied with his own smile.
