The black figure walked through the forest. Her tail ran through the leaves and made little russling noises. Her head was low and it almost touched the ground. Her claws hit the ground as silently as her feet. I guess you could say that she was sad. She didn't have anyone to love her, and she also didn't have any friends. She sighed and walked on. Everyone that had always been in her life was taken away by her sister. All her friends were now Phoenix's friends... all her mates were now or had been Phoenix's mates... and the thing was... Phoenix just used them... she used them all!! She used the males for mating and the females to help get the males. Sooner or later, she would just leave them behind and never talk to them again. It was sick the things she did... just sick.
She huffed and walked on. She was hoping to find some sort of water to calm her. It always seemed to, and she hoped it would this time. She looked around and then set off at a fast run. She finally reached the river, where she layed down and listened to the rushing water. She listened to the sweet sound of the small waterfalls and then the rushing sound of the river. It was all so calming to her. She closed her eyes and soon, she was fast asleep.

"Tra-la-la, tra-la-la-la, la-la-laaaaa...Tra-la-la-la-laaaa..." Baelath had a naturally good voice, being a bard, but singing at the top of his lungs did tend to distort his natural voice. So, maybe "yelling" would be more correct in this case. At any rate, it was a fine day, and he was having a glorious time flying and singing.
He had never been to this place before, and that made everything all that much more exciting. He started singing again, "Tra-la-la, tra-la-la-la..." Bae paused mid-thought. Was that water he heard? Why, yes it was. Now that he thought about it, he'd been hearing water for some time. And his throat was rather sore and thirsty.
He pumped his wings harder, picking up speed until he was racing across the sky, the wind burning through his feathers. It was a glorious feeling. A glorious day! The sun bright and high...And warm on his feathers, the wind whipping and whistling past, and the river singing along below him.
Baelath spotted a nice smooth patch of sand to land on, and broke into song again. "Lalalalaaaa...la-la-la-- Ahhh!"
The song ended rather abruptly when he landed in a tumble, feathers flying everywhere. Bae stood up and shook himself off, pausing to groom his feathers. He chuckled to himself, glad that no one was there to see his bad landing. Alone, he could laugh at his own foolishness. He stood up and looked around.
A forest ran along one side of the raging torrent of water; on the other were low cliffs. Bae broke into a shambling run, curious if there were signs of others living in these parts. Sand sprayed haphazardly from both paws and talons, his trail along the sandy bank clearly marked. Still, he was a bard, not a stealthy rogue, and he wanted to be seen. Meeting up with a new friend was always a favorite activity.
Panting slightly from his exertions, Bae rounded a corner and tripped over a furry heap of feathers. He floundered a moment, shouting out apologies. Once he managed to find his feet again, Bae found himself backing off slightly, suddenly unsure of himself. New friends were great, but who was to say that this stranger wanted to be friends? Especially after he'd fallen over her.
He blinked and took a moment to gather himself, glancing around at his surroundings. He finally noticed that the female gryphon had been laying near a rock, her dark pelt blending with the shadows. That explained why he hadn't noticed her the first time around. And now that he noticed her...
She had thick black fur and a sleek appearance, her body strong but graceful. Her feathers were dark brown shading into black, smooth and well-groomed. Bae blinked. Wow, he thought. Then, I think my day just got better.
Number of Words: 490 Things To Know: Cheers for randomness and idiocy! Really, I don't think Bae's stupid at all, he just comes off that way. Character: Baelath! (It's my first time playing him, too. ;D) Anything Else? Don't forget to add this to the bottom of your posts. It helps us admins to keep track of things, like word count.

The wind caressed her large, black body as she flew above the land. The sound of running water filled her ears. It was loud, but as she looked around, she saw that only a stream and a waterfall were below her. She shrugged and flew on. Trees dotted the ground below her. The sky was bright blue with no clouds drifting across it. In the distance to her left, a large forest stood. To her right, a range of mountians towered above the land. She smiled, it was good to be alive right now. She saw two figures on the ground below her and drifted down to them. She landed beside the smaller of the two who seemed to be female. The other, larger figure was male. They seemed to be talking about going somewhere.
"Come on. I know this great place in the mountians that we can go and have a lot of fun" The female said. She wiggled her brows when she said 'fun.' "Okay. Lead the way, babe." The deep voice came from the male and soded familiar, but Sahbeese just shrugged it aside. They took off, Sahbeese following closely behind. They landed near a cliff. The female landed and then walked toward the edge, the male followed. "Are you ready?" The male asked. "Oh yes." The female said. Sahbeese was about to fly away, when the female pushed the male right off the cliff. And that was when Sahbeese realized who the female and male were. Phoenix and her old mate. Sahbeese ran to try to help the male, but stopped. She couldn't help him. His words came like they had that night,"Why? I still love you, Phoenix." Phoenix rolled her eyes, raised a clawed foot, and swiped it across his front feet.
A laugh escaped her maw as she turned around. As soon as she saw Sahbeese, her eyes widened. "You can't tell anyone! No one! It was an accident!" She growled at her twin. And with that, she raised her claws again and hit Sahbeese in the side...
Sahbeese jolted out of her sleep. She had been hit by something. She raised her head and looked around. She didn't see... and then she saw him. Looking at her. The most handsome gryphon she had seen in a long time. She was slack jawed and staring at him for a moment, before she gathered herself and said,"Don't worry about it. I'm Sahbeese, but I go by Grande... or Sahbeese, whichever you like better." She stood up and shoke herself. Her wings caught the sunlight and had a violet tint as she turned her body to face him. She stretched her legs. Her black pelt stretched over her muscles, showing her strength. She smiled at the male before her and asked,"May I know your name?"

"Sahbeese," Bae repeated. "That's a very pretty name. I go by Baelath, but usually just Bae for short." He swept a wing in front of himself and inclined his head in a bow. This time, he managed not to tumble over himself. He was pleased with the elegant effect he managed--bards were supposed to be striking and dramatic.
The gryphon stretched her wings, and an unusual violet color glittered in their depths as the sun sparked off pelt and feathers. Bae raised his eyebrows slightly at the color, feeling slightly astonished.
"I really am sorry I tripped over you. I was enjoying the scenery so much that I just wasn't looking...Do you live around here? It really is a lovely place. I've never been here before, myself." Bae stopped, realizing that he was rambling. Well, he did tend to do that, but the pretty female before him seemed to be doing funny things to his brain.
He'd met pretty females before, but up until now they'd never had such an impact on him. He admired her sleek black pelt and thought his own spotted one woefully plain; who would notice a spotted bard? Why, he'd just blend into the background, and Sahbeese probably would never give him a second thought.
Ah, but wasn't that what being a bard was all about? Standing out? He hoped he could manage it. He found he definitely wanted Sahbeese to notice him. "May I ask how you came by the name Grande? It's a very unusual name." He sat up straight and puffed up his tawny chest feathers slightly, trying to give his lean rangy frame a more solid look. It wasn't likely he would ever be terribly strong, but at least he could try to make himself look slightly more impressive.
Word Count: 304 Things to Know: Awww, poor Bae is suffering from a serious infatuation with Sahbeese. He's still pretty young, btw (3 years). Character: Baelath. Anything Else?: Couldn't write too much until I heard Sahbeese's answers to Bae's questions.
